Is abortion comparable to a Holocaust?

I recently saw this article on Huffingtonpost.com http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/02/senator-ruben-diaz-compares-abortion-holocaust_n_1470563.html
I was taken aback by the quick disregard of the senator’s comments. Most comments displayed a complete lack of comprehension of the subject. There are many avenues to argue whether abortion in America is a Holocaust in itself. I decided though, to consult the dictionary. Lets get into specifics and see if the senator has anything backing him up…only using the dictionary.

Definition of Abortion
The termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus.

Definition of Death
A permanent cessation of all vital functions : the end of life.

Definition of Life
a : the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body
b : a principle or force that is considered to underlie the distinctive quality of animate beings
Definition of Kill
a : to deprive of life : cause the death of
b (1) : to slaughter (as a hog) for food (2) : to convert a food animal into (a kind of meat) by slaughtering”
Definition of Holocaust
4. any mass slaughter or reckless destruction of life.
 
Well now, there really isn’t any confusion on this issue is there.
