The Purpose and Process of Baptism

Saul

Matthew 3:11

11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

To baptize is to wash. Strongs G907. To immerse, like a sunk vessel, to wash, to make clean.

Substituting baptize with wash, he washes us! Now thinking of our feet washed and how we are to server others, “washing” them in the name of the Father, the son and the Holy Spirit.

John 13:6

Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?

Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.

Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.

Instead of being limited to the authority of a few we are all to baptize others in his name, confessing our sins. Matthew 3:6

In this we give service to others, washing them as He has washed us. Matthew 28:19
