PANDEMIC of 2020

Novel Coronavirus SARS-COV-2

Saul

SARS-COV-2 is the successor to SARS. It is thought that infection with this virus creates the potential for the individual to present with the syndrome now described as Covid-19.

Covid-19 syndrome includes a diverse set of symptoms including fever, cough and shortness of breath. Severe symptoms include permanent lung damage, blood hyper-coagulation and cytokine storm syndrome.

Individuals infected with the virus have the potential to be symptomatic indefinitely, with long term effects presenting even after only mild initial infection.

The mainstay of protection against infection with SARS-COV-2 includes standard infection control precautions for airborne pathogens which include the use of N95 masks.

The optimum conditions for virus spread include temperatures between 42 – 55 degrees fahrenheit. It has been observed to be viable for transmission on surfaces for up to 5 days and in the air for up to 3 hours.

RT-PCR and Antibody testing have shown to be unreliable. Positive identification of infection is based the existing standard which considers the patients presentation of symptoms and results of testing i.

Current treatment includes Hydroxychloroquine, Ivermectin and vitamin supplements ii C,D1, B12, Zinc, Selenium and B1.
